Laser Cutting 20mm Steel

The usual thickness limit of steel when laser cutting is 25mm, however the edge quality deteriorates a lot when cutting inch thick steel due to the material heating up whilst cutting. This can even be a problem with 20mm on a lot of C02 lasers. You can avoid this by waterjet cutting which we also offer in house, but waterjet cutting is slow (and therefore expensive!).
Since our Trumpf fiber laser showed up back in August we’ve been blown away by the edge quality it seems to produce on clean 20mm thick steel. Take a look at photos below of a 20mm thick steel parts.
